Compression therapy has numerous benefits, which is why we are excited to offer this service at our clinic. We believe the NormaTec Compression is a cut above other massage compression device on the market, as it combines three distinct massage techniques to speed the body’s recovery process: Pulsing, Gradient Hold, and Distal Release. The benefits of NormaTec include enhanced blood flow and dynamic compression and increased flexibility and range of motion for the lower extremities after workouts or recovering from an injury.
- Pulsing – Mimics the muscle pump of the arms or legs, greatly increasing the movement of fluid and metabolites out of the limbs.
- Gradient – Utilizes constant pressure to keep the body’s fluids from being trapped to one end of the limb while the pulsing continues.
- Distal Release – Prevents backflow of fluids by releasing the hold pressures in each zone as soon as possible, allowing each limb to gain maximal rest time without a significant pause between compression cycles.
How it works
The compression system includes a control unit and attachments which fit on the legs and/or arms. It uses compressed air to massage your limbs, mobilize fluid, and speed recovery with a patented massage pattern. You will first experience a pre-inflate cycle, during which the connected attachments are molded to your exact body shape. The session will then begin by compressing your feet or hands (depending on which attachment you are using). Each segment of the attachment will first compress in a pulsing manner and then release. This will repeat for each segment of the attachment as the compression pattern works its way up your limb.

What does it feel like?
The process feels like a massage or tight squeeze working its way up from the bottom to top of the sleeve. The pressure is very relaxing and enjoyable. The pressure level can be adjusted from 1-7 to accommodate everyone’s needs.
What is NormaTec used for?
NormaTec is used to aid a wide variety of symptoms as it focuses on areas of poor circulation, to reduce inflammation from an injury or post surgery, or to aid in faster recovery from a workout. NormaTec helps to assist the lactic acid out of the muscle, allowing fresh blood to re-circulate in the muscle.
What areas of the body does NormaTec work?
We have two different attachments, Arms and Legs (only attachment can be used at a time). The arms extend from the hands up to the shoulder area and the legs go from the feet up to the hip area.
Is there a temperature change?
No, there is no temperature change. NormaTec uses only compressed air to compress the sleeves.
What would prevent me from using NormaTec?
We recommend not using it if you have any open wounds stitches or skin rash on the area of the body that will be inside of the sleeve. Also, it should not be used on the area of a broken bone or fracture.
Is there an age limit?
No, as long as the client is able to fit fully into the sleeves.
